"Exposure Therapy Summer"

The past few months have brought some, dare I say, powerful and interesting experiences into my life. Change can be a little uncomfortable, and I've been navigating that while also prioritizing a sense of safety. But the real game-changer kicked in over the last month, thanks to the very first item on my summer bucket list: "Exposure Therapy Summer.”

I added this to my list because I believe we grow and evolve most when we commit to pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones. It's about leaning into what feels a bit daunting and seeing what incredible things happen on the other side.

For me, that's meant challenging some long-held beliefs, especially around food. I've been incorporating foods back into my diet that I used to label as "bad." Think enjoying whole milk and maple syrup (#guthealth lol) in my coffee, eating a yummmmy burger without overthinking it, and most importantly, releasing the ingrained thought pattern that you need to "earn" your meals. It's been challenging at times while also being incredibly freeing and rewarding.

Beyond food, I've been embracing the spontaneity element of exposure therapy. I've pushed myself outside my comfort zone in social settings, initiating conversations and trying new things. And perhaps one of the most rewarding parts has been deepening the relationship that I have with myself by doing things like taking myself on 'dates' and truly learning to enjoy my own company.

Overall, this "Exposure Therapy Summer" has been about giving myself permission to simply enjoy life. Because let's be honest, life can feel pretty heavy sometimes, and finding moments of lightness and joy is something we all deserve.
