healing isn’t linear (!!!)

Let's imagine you cut your finger. It bleeds, then scabs over, and you think it's healing. But then you accidentally scratch the scab, and it starts bleeding again.

Healing is a journey we all experience, which doesn’t mean it’s easy. Whether recovering from a physical injury, a broken heart, navigating the loss of a loved one, or overcoming a difficult relationship with food, the process is uniquely personal. The idea that healing follows a clear, upward trajectory is just unfortunately not true. It’s more like a path with twists, turns, and sometimes, steps backward (which is so okay and normal!!!).

In a world that constantly pushes us to be productive and "bounce back," it's easy to feel pressure to rush healing. We might compare our progress to others or get frustrated when we have a bad day after a couple good ones. But true healing requires us to forget and ignore this timeline. We have to give ourselves the grace, time, and space to process our pain without judgment. Honoring the natural rhythm of our own recovery.

Unfortunately we may be dealt unfair cards at times, which may not make any sense (hopefully one day they do). We face circumstances that can feel overwhelming, impossible to overcome. In these moments, it's easy to lose hope. It's important to try to hold onto the optimistic belief that healing and growth are achievable (even though sometimes it feels impossible). The pain we carry today is not meant to be permanent. It can and will eventually soften, allowing us to find peace and move forward. The weight on your mind and heart won’t last forever.

Whatever heavy thing you're carrying, give yourself permission to heal. Don't rush the process or criticize yourself for your struggles. Your journey is valid, and every step, no matter how small is getting you closer to the goal. Trust in your own resilience and know that in time, you’ll find your way to the other side<3
